Sloeberry Spirits Ltd., Northfield Farm, Cold Overton, Oakham (Near Melton Mowbray), Rutland, Leicestershire, England, UK. |
Melton Mowbray is a
small country town in the North East of Leicestershire is renowned for it’s
food and drink and most notably their Pork Pies and Stilton Cheese – the only
place in the world permitted to make them bearing the town’s name. Not far away
is Northfield Farm, a producer
of quality beef, lamb and pork, with a farm shop, bakery and restaurant onsite.
It is also the home of Sloeberry Spirits Ltd. and their hedgerow liqueurs.
The company was established by Rachel Birch (starting with Sloe Gin as the only product) in the fall of 2004, the business was sold in the spring 2011 to Andy Hoyle. He follows the same recipes and uses the same fruit from the same locations around Melton Mowbray. Although originally called Hedgerow Spirits, Andy discovered another business was using this name (who had already formally registered it), and so in spring 2012 the company became Sloeberry Spirits Ltd. Andy is now developing the business further with more liqueurs being added to the portfolio. |
