Where Men Can Become Better Gentlemen

Blackberry Gin

Slamseys Drinks Ltd., Great Slamseys Farm, Great Notley, Braintree, Essex, England, UK.

Great Slamseys Farm is over 1,000 years old and the latest custodians, the Wheaton family, have been farming this land for the last three generations. Their daughter Beth Wheaton started Slamseys Drinks Ltd., in the summer of 2011, as a way to utilize farm produce and wild harvests from around the property.

Slamseys fruit Gins are made in small batches using an undisclosed London Dry Gin as the base. Traditional methods of infusing the ingredients are employed without producing an overly sweet spirit or over powering the base Gin.

This deep purple red colored Gin is presented in clear squat cylindrical bottle. It sports a simple white label (designed by B&B Studio) with black text and a black, hand drawn, image depicting a Beetle (the species varying depending upon bottle size). The label is not only inspired by the local wildlife found on the farm but by the eminent John Ray (1627 - 1705) who was born in nearby Black Notley. John Ray was a naturalist, priest and theologian who dedicated his life to the systematic description of the plant and animal kingdom, thus gaining the title “Father of Natural History”.

Tasting Notes

Unfortunately we have not tasted this yet, so we are unable to provide any personal review. However, we understand from Semleys this has a sweet fruity flavor with a hint of spice and is great with still or sparkling wine.
