Wine Review

Far Eastern Shore
Swan's Blush

Tien-Seng & Tara Chiu of Far Easton Shore Winery (Trading as Mesozoic Technologies, LLC), Easton, Talbot County, Maryland, USA.

Far Eastern Shore Winery.

This husband and wife team had been making home made wine for many years, with friends and family continually asking for more. So they turned their hobby into a micro-winery, located on the Eastern shore of Maryland, launching it in 2008. They concentrate on the production of lightly sweet (semi-sweet) wines infused with fruit.

Due to local restrictions, the winery cannot accept visitors or provide sampling on site.

They produce less than 200 cases each year and sell through local Maryland retailers. At these quantities, bottles are hand filled and labelled. We understand they are seeking to increase production levels and we eagerly look forward to the day they can sell their wine direct!

This is hard to answer only because it is a delight all by itself. However, salads, fruit, light cheese and desserts are suitable but also consider as an aperatif with nuts, crackers, light fish, bread, quiche etc.

Tasting Notes

Like all their products the base wine is masked, but not unpleasantly so, by the fruit - it is the star of the show, and boy does this one sparkle. There is a clear aroma of strawberries on the nose, instantly transporting you to strawberry harvesting season. This is increased on the palate and you could quite easily have just eaten a bowl of strawberries. This is a pure delight (assuming you like strawberries) and makes a fine summer’s day drink (with or without food), but great outside of this season to remind you of what you are missing!

This drink can firmly stand upon it’s own merits; however this cannot stop us from thinking how wonderful this might be as a sparkling wine.
