The Complete Gentleman website is the brainchild of our founder and President David Schofield. Born and raised in London, England, the real beginning to this story started in David's childhood where he recalls adult relatives and their friends complimenting him as “a perfect little gentleman”. Undoubtedly this emanated from the standards of etiquette and dress imparted to him by his parents but disappointingly he noticed these comments dwindled as his grew into an adult.

David (known as “Woody” to friends) has several decades of experience in corporate life culminating in senior management level as a Human Resources specialist. Meanwhile outside of his professional life he has followed a lifestyle of social activities, varying and expansive hobbies, not to mention a series of entrepreneurial sideline businesses, while also continuing his education. Taking notes wherever he is and whatever he does (due to a poor long-term memory), he has amassed a collection of information across four decades on life, loves, learning and laughter – not to mention tears, trials, turbulence and turmoil…and continues to add to this collection.

Finding difficulty in putting his hands on any specific piece of information, at any moment in time, it was a natural progression to want to digitalize his journals, notebooks and other materials for ease of reference. Having started this process there were several “organic growth” moments of realization: the need to access and refer to this anywhere (not just from his computer); the underlying theme that this was all about leading a man’s life; and that it just might be useful for others to share this information. Picking up on the wish to have those comments from his childhood mentioned again the die was cast, The Complete Gentleman website was created to assist not just him but other men on their journey in becoming more of a “complete gentleman”.

Today David lives in North East Maryland in the USA, spending his days trying to be more of a Gentleman (and often failing badly). All the while he continues to work on, his “hobby,” www.the-complete-gentleman.com.
