Why is it Important
in our Lives?

Adventure is an important part of every Gentleman's life, through it we gain experience; find out more about ourselves; and carry out life changing things, with a view to potentially changing the world (or bits of it).

Knowledge may give weight, but accomplishments give luster, and many more people see than weigh. – Lord Chesterfield.

Adventure is more than just thrill seeking, getting an adrenaline high or finding the next buzz. An adventure is not the end result, it is the experience, the journey undertaken that counts – being able to retell these exciting tales is an enduring part of the adventure’s continuing life. True adventure is primarily about our selves - what skills and abilities we acquire, what we discover within our selves, what we find out about our selves, what we see in others – it is an essential part of being a full man.

Strangely enough, the harder the adventure is, the more worthwhile it is! Having seen it with your own eyes, having experienced it with your own body is where we truly find our selves – it is infinitely superior to having seen it on TV or explored it on a satellite map!

Adventure is more than just thinking about it and planning, the vital aspect is doing. Knowledge is all fair and well but firsthand experience is the key. It doesn’t matter how many ideas you have for adventure, it’s the seeds of those thoughts that come to fruition which count – these are the things that change your life, and the lives of those around you.

Everything we do or say impacts on others, perhaps more than we realize. Our adventures, or lack of them, speak volumes about our character and us. They can encourage or deflate others around us, accordingly. By us undertaking positive actions it can inspire and change those people closest (and distant) to us. Our sense of adventure and purpose really can help to change the world around us, to make it a better place for everyone.
